- Gaming technology giant Aristocrat has appointed Dylan Slaney, the former iGaming CEO of rival Light & Wonder, as the new Chief Executive Officer of its Interactive division.
- Slaney will replace Moti Malul, who is stepping down after successfully steering NeoGames through its major acquisition by Aristocrat and its subsequent integration.
- The appointment is a major signal of Aristocrat’s intent to aggressively grow its digital and iLottery business, which was recently bolstered by a landmark deal with the Michigan Lottery.
- In a separate move, Aristocrat has also appointed Barry French to a new, expanded role of Chief Corporate Affairs and Marketing Officer.
- Group CEO Trevor Croker praised both new hires as “values-led leaders” who will help the company execute its ambitious growth strategy.
In a major strategic hire, global gaming supplier Aristocrat has named Dylan Slaney as the new CEO of its Aristocrat Interactive division. Slaney is a highly respected figure in the iGaming space, having most recently served as the CEO of iGaming for major competitor Light & Wonder, a role he left in late 2024.
He will take over from Moti Malul, who will be leaving the business in March 2026. Malul was the long-time CEO of NeoGames and played a pivotal role in its transformative acquisition by Aristocrat last year. His departure marks the first major leadership change since NeoGames was combined with Aristocrat’s in-house online unit, Anaxi, to form the new, scaled-up Interactive division.
A Clear Focus on iLottery Growth
Slaney’s appointment comes with a clear mandate to drive growth in the company’s digital arm, with a particular emphasis on the lucrative iLottery sector. Aristocrat Group CEO and Managing Director Trevor Croker hailed Slaney’s “deep igaming experience and track record of operational delivery” and stated that his focus would include “building on our market-leading position in iLottery, in line with our strategy.”
This strategy is already yielding significant results. In July, Aristocrat Interactive secured a “landmark” six-year contract to provide its iLottery platform and services to the Michigan Lottery, its eighth North American iLottery deal. This is a key growth area for the company, which is a dominant force in the land-based slot machine market.
Broader Changes at the Top
The appointment of Slaney is part of a wider executive reshuffle at the company. Aristocrat also confirmed that Natalie Toohey is stepping down as Chief Corporate Affairs Officer. She will be succeeded by Barry French, who is taking on a new, expanded role of Chief Corporate Affairs and Marketing Officer. French brings over 35 years of experience from other technology-heavy sectors like telecommunications and aerospace.
The appointment of a seasoned iGaming expert like Slaney is a clear and aggressive signal of Aristocrat’s ambitions. Having made a huge bet on digital with the NeoGames acquisition, the company is now bringing in a top executive from a major online competitor to lead the newly integrated division and ensure that bet pays off.
