NigeriaBet9ja
Bet9ja is the largest sports betting and online casino operator in Nigeria, launched on 10 September 2013 by Ayo Ojuroye and Kunle Soname and headquartered in Lagos. It trades through KC Gaming Networks Limited under a licence from the Lagos State Lotteries Board, with permission extending to other parts of the country. Its reach is unusual for a gambling brand: bet9ja.com ranked as the third most visited website in Nigeria in 2020, behind only Google and YouTube. Nigerian gambling is licensed at state rather than federal level following a Supreme Court ruling on the limits of national lottery powers, so operators assemble coverage state by state, and Lagos remains the licence that matters most.
KenyaBetika
Kenya's leading sports betting platform offering sportsbook, casino, and virtual games across multiple African markets via apps, website, SMS, and USSD.
South AfricaBetOlimp South Africa
BetOlimp is a South Africa facing online betting and gaming platform that combines sportsbook betting with casino content on one account. On its own site, it presents itself primarily as a sportsbook brand, offering pre match and live betting across thousands of sporting events each month, while also supporting casino, live games, lucky numbers and virtual products. The site states that BetOlimp is operated by O L I M P (Pty) Ltd and is licensed and regulated by the Western Cape Gambling & Racing Board.

Hollywoodbets
Hollywoodbets is the largest licensed bookmaker in South Africa, founded in Durban in 2000 and originally trading as Winning Form, with its first branch on Argyle Road. Its purple branding is among the most recognisable in African sport. It runs a retail estate of more than 80 branches alongside a substantial online business, licensed separately by the provincial gambling boards of KwaZulu-Natal, Gauteng, Western Cape, Eastern Cape, Free State, Limpopo and Mpumalanga, because South Africa regulates bookmaking province by province rather than nationally. It has since expanded into the United Kingdom, Ireland and Mozambique, and is a prominent sponsor across South African cricket, football and racing.

SportPesa
SportPesa is the best-known sports betting brand in Kenya, launched in Nairobi in 2014 by Pevans East Africa. It grew rapidly on mobile money distribution and sponsorship of Kenyan and English football, reaching annual revenue reported at 150 billion shillings at its 2018 peak. Its history is also the clearest case study in African regulatory risk. Its licence was withdrawn in 2019 amid a dispute with the government over betting taxation, and the brand returned to the Kenyan market in 2022 under Milestone Games, licensed by the Betting Control and Licensing Board. Ronald Karauri, a shareholder in the original Pevans business, leads the company. Operators building on mobile money in East Africa look at SportPesa as the template for both the scale available and the speed at which it can be removed.
