IGT Rebrands Global Lottery Business to Brightstar, Signalling Future Focus

International Game Technology (IGT) has announced the immediate rebranding of its global lottery business, which will now operate under the new name
International Game Technology (IGT) has announced the immediate rebranding of its global lottery business, which will now operate under the new name Brightstar Lottery. This strategic move underscores the company’s intensified focus on the lottery sector as it prepares for the imminent conclusion of its gaming and digital assets sale.
The newly named Brightstar will continue to provide the same comprehensive services as the former IGT lottery business. IGT stated that the new name reflects its role as a “source of inspiration and innovation” for lottery players worldwide. Brightstar currently partners with 90 lottery customers and their players across six continents, serving as a lottery operator, a provider of retail and digital systems and technology, an instant ticket services provider, and a game creator.
This rebranding aligns with IGT’s strategic shift to focus purely on its lottery operations. The sale of its gaming and digital business to private equity giant Apollo Global, a deal struck last July (2024), remains on track to complete in Q3 of this year (2025).
Brightstar Leadership on New Approach
Vince Sadusky, CEO of Brightstar, commented on the rebrand, stating, as reported by iGaming Times, that it “fits in with this new approach.” He highlighted, as reported by iGaming Times, the company’s “nearly 50-year history of reliability, innovation and leadership in lottery, a bedrock from which we are launching Brightstar with a future-forward mindset of helping lottery customers around the world succeed in an environment of digital adoption, shifting player expectations, and an increasing variety of gaming choices.”
Brightstar Executive Chair Marco Sala echoed this sentiment, stating, as reported by iGaming Times, that the new look and business focus will better position the company to serve customers around the world. Sala noted that Brightstar is already the primary technology provider to 26 of the 46 lottery jurisdictions in the US and seven of the world’s largest lotteries. He added, as reported by iGaming Times, that Brightstar “will be well-positioned to focus on driving innovation and growing the potential of the lottery business responsibly for the entertainment of players, the success of our customers, and the support of the good causes they fund in their communities.”
The rebranding of IGT’s global lottery business to Brightstar signals a clear strategic direction for the company, as it streamlines its operations to focus entirely on the lottery sector. This move, supported by the ongoing divestment of its gaming and digital assets, positions Brightstar to accelerate innovation and cater to the evolving demands of the global lottery market while supporting its customers and the good causes they fund.
