Betsson Posts a Record €326.5m Quarter as Casino Grows 14% but EBIT Falls 31%

Latin American revenue rose by more than half and casino carried a weak sportsbook to Betsson's highest quarter yet, but gaming taxes and a shrinking B2B line took almost a third off operating profit. The record also rests on the region where Brazil has already shut its market and a Buenos Aires senator wants to do the same.

Brazil's Betting Ban Draws 99 Amendments, Several Rewriting It to Restore the Licences

Congress's record shows 99 amendments to Provisional Measure 1.394 when filing closed on 13 October, 94 of them still live. The most ambitious would not soften the ban but replace it, reviving the extinguished licences under a stricter rulebook, and the committee that must weigh them has no chair or rapporteur nine days before the licences lapse.

Brazil's Attorney General Asks the STF to Void the Betting Laws as Operators Press Fux to Rule Before Midnight

The government's lawyer has told the Supreme Federal Tribunal that the laws which created Brazil's licensed betting market are unconstitutional, reversing the position it took in 2024. It did so in a different case from the one in which Justice Luiz Fux gave it 72 hours, and operators, clubs and Flamengo want his answer on the ban before licensed sites go dark at midnight.

Messages taken from the jailed banker's phone by the Federal Police show Banco Master's legal director telling Daniel Vorcaro he "cannot appear" after the Finance Ministry asked who stood behind a fund that owned part of Bet.Bet, Valor Econômico reports. Datafolha Finds 78% Back Brazil's Betting Ban as Broadcasters Go to the STF

Brazil's betting ban polls far better than the market it replaced, but most voters say it will not decide their vote, and Lula has now said the election is why he acted. Broadcasters, operators and six football clubs have asked the Supreme Court to step in before licensed sites go dark on 6 October.

Brazil Seeks to Block 5,209 Betting Sites as Industry Counts of Illegal Sites Diverge

The justice and finance ministries say they have asked for 5,209 betting domains to be blocked since the ban and reached channels on Telegram with more than a million members. The licensed industry says illegal sites are multiplying, but its own monitors disagree by a factor of ten on how fast, and one says almost none are new.

Prosecutor at Brazil's Audit Court Asks It to Delay the Betting Ban to 31 December

Deputy prosecutor-general Lucas Rocha Furtado, a declared opponent of betting, has asked the Federal Court of Accounts to push the ban back by almost three months and to make the government account for the R$30 million each operator paid for a licence. The court has not ruled, and its power over a provisional measure is limited.
