Betfred

Betfred

Betfred is a British bookmaker founded in 1967 by the brothers Fred and Peter Done, who opened their first shop in Ordsall, Salford with capital from a winning bet on England to lift the 1966 World Cup. It traded as Done Bookmakers until 2004, when it took the Betfred name, and operates through Done Brothers (Cash Betting) Limited from Warrington. It is one of the largest privately owned bookmakers in Britain, with more than 1,600 betting shops alongside its online business. Betfred bought the Tote from the government for 265 million pounds in 2011 and sold it on in 2019, a period that made it the operator of British pool betting on horseracing as well as a fixed-odds bookmaker.
