Reverse withdrawal has been a contested product feature in player protection terms. The feature traditionally allowed players to cancel withdrawal requests while they were in processing, returning the funds to playable balance. The harm-related concern is that players experiencing chasing behavior or sudden urge to continue play can undo their decision to withdraw, with negative outcomes for vulnerable customers. UKGC banned reverse withdrawal in 2020 as a player protection measure. The post-ban operating model is that withdrawal requests, once submitted, cannot be reversed by the player and must be processed. This means more deliberate withdrawal decisions and removes the temptation-undermining design. Other markets have followed or considered similar restrictions. The product change had limited revenue impact for compliant operators but signaled the broader regulatory direction toward removing dark patterns and pro-engagement design choices that undermine player protection.
