Wallet architecture is a strategic design choice with implications for player experience and operator economics. Single-product wallets keep sportsbook and casino balances separate, which simplifies regulatory reporting in some markets but creates friction for players who want to move between products. Unified wallets give the player a single balance across all products, which improves UX and supports cross-vertical engagement, but requires more sophisticated platform infrastructure and regulatory reporting. Third-party e-wallet providers (PayPal, Skrill, Neteller, MuchBetter) offer wallets that hold balances outside the operator's PAM, with the player depositing from the e-wallet to operator and withdrawing back. The benefits include player payment flexibility (one wallet across multiple operators) and operator chargeback reduction. The trade-offs are intermediary fees and dependence on third-party processing. The wallet design choice for the operator's own PAM is largely settled in favor of unified wallets in mature markets, with cross-product engagement justifying the complexity.
