Will Alberta's regulated online gambling market open to players before 1 July 2027?

Alberta passed its iGaming Alberta Act in 2025 to follow Ontario's model of private operators under a provincial conduct-and-manage body. Regulations, the operator agreement and the launch date have followed one another through 2026.

Resolution rule

YES if at least one privately operated, provincially licensed online casino or sportsbook is live for Alberta residents under the iGaming Alberta framework before 1 July 2027, confirmed by the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission or the province. Play Alberta alone does not count.
