MP Urges Regulators to Act as Polymarket Takes Bets on HSBC and Lloyds Failing

Polymarket's offshore exchange lists contracts on whether 19 of the world's biggest banks, HSBC and Lloyds among them, will fail by the end of 2026. The sums are small, but a Treasury Committee MP warns that a market on a bank's collapse could help cause one, and Britain's regulators have so far said little more than that they are talking to their counterparts abroad.

Brazil's Attorney General Asks the STF to Void the Betting Laws as Operators Press Fux to Rule Before Midnight

The government's lawyer has told the Supreme Federal Tribunal that the laws which created Brazil's licensed betting market are unconstitutional, reversing the position it took in 2024. It did so in a different case from the one in which Justice Luiz Fux gave it 72 hours, and operators, clubs and Flamengo want his answer on the ban before licensed sites go dark at midnight.

Norway Proposes Letting Norsk Tipping Offer Online Poker, With a NOK5,000 Daily Loss Cap

The Ministry of Culture and Equality has put online poker for the state monopoly out to a fast-track consultation, two years after Norsk Tipping asked for it. The proposal comes with tight stakes, loss and table limits, and an open question about whether a Norway-only player pool can compete with the foreign sites it is meant to replace.

Rank Warns a Third of Its Venues Would Close if Machine Games Duty Doubles to 40%

The Mecca and Grosvenor owner says a doubling would shut about a third of its estate and hit around 2,000 staff. Its own accounts suggest the arithmetic is real: on a rough estimate, the rise on Mecca's machines alone would exceed what its bingo clubs earn. The new gambling minister, touring one of its casinos this week, has so far spoken about bingo licensing rather than tax.

Listed Groups Count the Cost of Brazil's Ban, With the Affiliates Hit Hardest

Entain, Flutter, Allwyn, Better Collective, Acroud and DigiPlus have all told investors what Brazil's ban on fixed-odds betting means for them. For the big operators it is a trim to guidance; for Better Collective, whose shares traded a quarter lower on Monday, it removes about 12% of expected revenue.

The Guardian Takes the Casino Secrets Leak to Britain, Naming Santeda, BC.Game and Stake

The newspaper's first reporting from the Curaçao regulator's files turns a licensing scandal into a question about who serves British players without a licence, and puts new documents behind its earlier reporting on the Santeda casino network. Its reporter also says the offshore trade is already moving on, to Anjouan and other lighter-touch licensors.

Sixth Circuit Rules 3-0 That Ohio and Tennessee Can Enforce Gambling Law Against Kalshi

A unanimous panel has held that Kalshi's sports contracts are not swaps, and that federal commodities law would not shield them from state gambling law even if they were. It is the second federal appeals court in a month to side with the states, leaving Kalshi with one win in three circuits as the Supreme Court weighs whether to take the question.
