The Senate president and the chair of the committee handling Chile's online betting bill have each filed a replacement text that would outlaw private platforms rather than license them. The government filed nothing by the 16 October deadline and now has until 26 October; nothing has been voted.

Illegal operators have been rebuilding licensed Dutch gambling sites on .co.nl instead of .nl and sending visitors on to illegal casinos. The regulator had them removed within 48 hours by asking the extension's private operator, a route that needs no court order but says nothing yet about how many players the clones caught.

The Supreme Court has confirmed that the casino regulator was entitled to classify an operator's "skill" machines as games of chance and to discount a laboratory report the operator said proved otherwise. It is one case from the island of Chiloé, but it backs the procedure Chile uses against thousands of machines operating outside its casinos.

Chile's telecoms undersecretariat has sent internet providers a second list of betting sites to block within 48 hours, mostly new domains and mirrors of international betting brands. The industry group representing the operators says some of the domains go beyond what the courts ordered.

Applications close on 28 September, seven months after the post fell vacant. The job description is for a land-based inspectorate overseeing 17 casinos in a sector down a fifth since 2019, while a bill in the Senate would hand the same body the online market it has repeatedly said it has no power over.
