The Federación Mexicana de Fútbol has filed a trademark suit against Kalshi in federal court in Manhattan, after two months of cease-and-desist letters that the exchange answered by invoking nominative fair use. The case opens an intellectual property front that Kalshi's many fights with state regulators have not touched.

Caesars Entertainment shareholders approved Fertitta Entertainment's $31-a-share takeover at a special meeting in Reno on Tuesday, with votes in favour equal to about 65.4% of outstanding shares, the company confirmed in a filing on Wednesday. The deal now depends on a Federal Trade Commission second request and gaming regulators in every Caesars state, while a disclosure shows the President's managers sold a small Caesars holding in July.

A CBS News investigation into how sportsbooks keep bettors engaged featured a Virginia customer who likened gambling to "crack in the '80s". FanDuel suspended his account after the broadcast, a step CBS said the company told him about only after he appeared in its story. The operator says it acts whenever a customer raises concerns, on television or anywhere else.

Wynn Resorts has pushed a 2027 maturity at its Las Vegas business out to 2035, at the price of a coupon 1.625 percentage points higher than the notes it replaces. The deal closed on 22 September, according to the company's filing.

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission's market oversight staff have told exchanges that contracts on whether a person will say a word, attend an event or shake a hand may be treated as presumptively readily susceptible to manipulation. New Alabama filings show the Chumba Casino owner gave the Republican governor candidate a further $100,000 on 31 August, $170,000 to a PAC funded by DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM and the Poarch Band, and $10,000 to $20,000 apiece to six state senators, 36 contributions in five months in a state with no lottery and no regulated online gambling.

A King County judge has refused to revisit the injunction that keeps Kalshi's sports, election and entertainment contracts out of Washington, rejecting the argument that rivals are still operating there. In the same week Kalshi asked for 30 more days on New Jersey's Supreme Court petition and Montana agreed to stand down until the Ninth Circuit rules en banc.

Interactive Games sued DraftKings in Massachusetts in April over a patent covering geolocated mobile wagering and what a device displays when a customer is outside a permitted state. DraftKings' petition says Nevada rules required all of that in 2006, three years before the patent's priority date, and asks the PTAB to review it.

Eilers & Krejcik's first combined forecast credits sportsbooks with $31.7 billion and the exchanges with an $8.4 billion "handle analog", a translation of exchange volume into sportsbook terms that it has not published. The AGA sees sportsbooks flat at $29.5 billion; Week 1 data suggests the exchange share may be larger.

The letters Catherine Hanaway promised on Wednesday went out to Polymarket, Kalshi, Crypto.com, Novig, Underdog and Robinhood, dated 16 and 17 September. Five of the six are told to stop serving under-21s. The licensed sportsbooks' own exchange products are not on the list, and Kentucky, she says, is close to a settlement.

Two days after the Ninth Circuit told two California tribes that Kalshi's sports contracts are Class III gaming on their land, the Tunica-Biloxi Tribe formed SaltTrade Derivatives to route trades through Kalshi's exchange. The tribal gaming lobby called it "profoundly disappointing"; Kalshi's chief executive called on other tribes to follow.

A 2023 model ranked online casino players by how much they would lose per promotion and steered bonuses towards the top scorers, according to the New York Times. A parallel model to flag customers sliding towards harm was shut down in early 2025. DraftKings says predictive risk scoring was not evidence-based.

The CFTC is investigating, and the company is raising $1 billion.

A Pennsylvania county wants prediction-market trading written into the oath its election workers swear, and Maryland's chief administrator plans to ask for the same statewide, the Associated Press reports. With the courts unlikely to rule before November, the workers are the one thing the states can still regulate.

The geolocation supplier's count of sportsbook activity on 13 September ran ahead of Super Bowl LX, and new accounts more than quadrupled, in the same week that prediction-market apps out-downloaded every sportsbook. The two datasets are measuring different things, and the gap between them is the story of this season.
