Merkur Group

Merkur Group

Merkur Group, formerly the Gauselmann Group, is a family-owned German gaming business founded in 1957 by Paul Gauselmann and headquartered in Espelkamp, North Rhine-Westphalia. It began as a one-man sideline installing jukeboxes and grew into one of the largest gaming groups in Europe, employing around 11,000 people. The group is unusual in spanning both sides of the industry. It develops and manufactures gaming machines under the Merkur brand, and it also operates: a national chain of gaming arcades, sports betting, online gaming and casinos. That combination gives it a position in the German market that neither a pure supplier nor a pure operator holds, and it is a central player in the arcade and amusement-with-prizes sector that the German states regulate separately from the online regime.
