Encore Boston Harbor Revenue Falls 22% in Its First Month of Strike Action

Louisiana Gives DraftKings a Four-Month Extension, Not a Renewal, Over AI and Shareholder Suitability

Louisiana's gaming regulator has pushed DraftKings' permit renewal to February while state police finish checking shareholders who hold 5% or more and the board examines reports about how the operator uses artificial intelligence. The chairman said the decision is not a finding of wrongdoing, but it is the first licensing decision in iGaming Times' coverage to turn on the AI reports.

Federal Magistrate Recommends Sending Kentucky's Polymarket and Kalshi Suits Back to State Court

A magistrate judge has recommended that Kentucky's gambling suit against Polymarket go back to the state court where it was filed, leaning on the Sixth Circuit's September ruling against Kalshi, and the same is reported in the Kalshi case. If the district judges agree, a Kentucky judge will hear the state's claims for injunctions, penalties and treble damages.

Underdog Sues Tennessee in the Court Whose Kalshi Injunction the Sixth Circuit Threw Out

Underdog's exchange and brokerage arms filed a federal suit in Nashville on Tuesday against Tennessee's attorney general and the officials of its Sports Wagering Council, four days after a letter to "Mr. Levine". It is the seventh state Underdog has taken to court, and the first suit it has filed where a binding appeals ruling already rejects the argument it relies on.

US States Spent $145m of the $188m Set Aside for Problem Gambling Services in FY2025

US states spent about $145 million of the $188 million they allocated to problem gambling services in FY2025, and 48% of funded states spent at least 5% less than their budgets, according to the national association of state administrators. The share has barely moved since FY2023, which makes it a capacity problem rather than a one-off.

IG Group Shares Fall Up to 27% on a 14% Revenue Drop as Underdog, Its Pending $1.3bn Buy, Doubles

IG's core trading business kept more customers and less of their money in the third quarter, and the London-listed broker has cut its 2026 growth outlook to mid-single digits. The US fantasy and prediction-market operator it agreed in July to buy for up to $1.3 billion more than doubled its revenue, but that deal has not closed and the business is in court with six states.

Maine Has No Rule on AI in Gambling, and Its Draft Online Casino Code Does Not Add One

Maine's regulator says it is monitoring the use of AI "locally and nationally" after the New York Times report on DraftKings, which takes about four in every five dollars bet with the state's mobile sportsbooks. Its draft rules for online casino, the product at the centre of the Times investigation, are open for comment until 30 October.

Massachusetts Casinos Took $101.9m in August as Sportsbooks Held 8.3% on $570m

Encore Boston Harbor produced $62.8 million of the three casinos' revenue, up from $95.7 million in July across the state, and the seven mobile books plus three retail counters generated just over $47 million of taxable sports revenue. DraftKings settled $275.1 million of it, nearly twice FanDuel, in the last full month before the NFL.

DraftKings Asks the Patent Board to Void a Geolocation Patent Used to Sue It

Interactive Games sued DraftKings in Massachusetts in April over a patent covering geolocated mobile wagering and what a device displays when a customer is outside a permitted state. DraftKings' petition says Nevada rules required all of that in 2006, three years before the patent's priority date, and asks the PTAB to review it.

Missouri's AG Sends Every Prediction Market a Cease-and-Desist and Names a Price

Catherine Hanaway says sports contracts "fit four square the definition of gambling in Missouri", that they siphon money from sportsbooks that pay the state's tax, and that what she wants is an agreement putting the exchanges under Missouri gaming law and taxing them. If there is no agreement she will sue; she expects them to sue her first.

Underdog Sues Connecticut, Its Sixth State in Ten Days, Over a Cease-and-Desist

The 9 September order from the Department of Consumer Protection told Underdog to stop advertising and offering sports event contracts and to let residents withdraw. Underdog's answer, filed in federal court on Tuesday, is the same one it gave Ohio, Massachusetts, Wisconsin, New Mexico and Washington: the CFTC has "exclusive jurisdiction" over a designated contract market, so the state's action is "meritless".

Ohio Is the Third Regulator to Quit the NCPG Over Kalshi as Massachusetts Wavers

The Ohio Casino Control Commission's June resignation letter surfaced at a Massachusetts Gaming Commission meeting last week, where commissioners decided to stay "for now". The national problem-gambling body says taking Kalshi's money is not an endorsement. Three state bodies have decided it is.

Five US Leagues Ask 35 States to Ban Bettors Who Threaten Athletes for Life

The NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL and MLS and their players' unions have sent a joint memo to state gaming regulators asking for mandatory lifetime exclusions, a shared list and a single reporting channel. Five states already do something like it. The memo does not reach the bettors on prediction markets.

Underdog Sues Five States, Days After Giving Up Fantasy Licences in Seven

The company has gone to federal court in Ohio, Massachusetts, Wisconsin, New Mexico and Washington, asking each to rule that state gambling law cannot reach a CFTC-regulated contract. It is the first prediction-market operator to sue pre-emptively across a whole group of states rather than wait to be sued.

Underdog Drops Fantasy in Seven States to Keep Its Prediction Markets Running

Told by regulators in Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, New Jersey, Ohio and Pennsylvania that it could not offer both, Underdog has chosen its CFTC-registered event contracts over the draft games that built the company. Drafts close in those states on Wednesday evening, after the NFL season kicks off.

Springfield Sues MGM, and MGM Says the City Is Blocking a Sale of the Casino

The City of Springfield has taken MGM Resorts to Hampden Superior Court over alleged breaches of the 2013 host community agreement, from employment levels to a downtown building left behind scaffolding for seven years. MGM calls the suit frivolous and says the real story is a proposed sale to a "well-qualified casino operator" that the mayor's office has stalled since early 2024.
