Great Canadian Entertainment

Great Canadian Entertainment

Great Canadian Entertainment is the largest private casino operator in Canada, founded in 1982 and headquartered in Toronto. It runs gaming, entertainment and hospitality properties in Ontario, British Columbia, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Funds managed by Apollo Global Management, alongside HPS Investment Partners, completed the acquisition of the then Great Canadian Gaming Corporation in September 2021 in a deal worth around 3.3 billion Canadian dollars, taking the business private and bringing roughly 25 casinos under Apollo's control. Anthony Rodio, previously chief executive of Caesars Entertainment, was appointed to lead it from Toronto. Canadian casinos are typically operated on behalf of provincial Crown agencies rather than owned outright, so the company's role is as service provider to the provinces as much as proprietor.
