TAB New Zealand is the statutory betting operator holding New Zealand's monopoly on sports and racing betting, established to fund the racing industry and sports bodies. In 2023 it entered a twenty-five-year strategic partnership under which Entain operates its betting business and technology, bringing the TAB onto Entain's platform while the statutory body retained ownership and the distribution of proceeds to racing and sport. Legislation in 2025 tightened the monopoly against offshore operators, and the TAB runs retail, online and on-course betting nationwide.

The Philippine operator behind BingoPlus and ArenaPlus says it dropped out of the last rounds of New Zealand's auction for the right to apply for an online casino licence, citing "market values". It is the second overseas plan to stall in a month, after Brazil's ban.
The Department of Internal Affairs has named the 11 entities that won New Zealand's 15 rights to apply for an online casino licence, at a single price of NZ$15 million each. SkyCity, Stake, TAB New Zealand and companies linked to Super Group and Entain are on the list, but none of them holds a licence yet.
