Pernambuco Court Rejects Every Spribe Claim Against Betnacional Over Aviator

The state court that granted Spribe an injunction against NSX in April, then revoked it in July when a federal court suspended the developer's trademark, has now ruled on the merits: no trademark infringement, no copyright infringement, no unfair competition. It is the third Brazilian decision in a row to go against the Estonian studio, three days after a Brasília judge ordered it to police its own distribution.

South Korea Sends 18 Polymarket Traders to Prosecutors Over KRW 17.6bn of Bets

Police data supplied to a National Assembly member show the Gangwon provincial cyber unit has booked 26 users of the blocked platform for gambling under Article 246 of the Criminal Act and referred 18 of them for prosecution. One trader alone put about KRW 5.7bn through the site. The defendants say a yes-or-no contract settled on a blockchain is a derivative, not a bet, and the courts have not yet been asked.

Council of State Upholds the Dutch Retail Monopolies and Overturns JVH's Win

The Administrative Jurisdiction Division ruled on 16 September that the single-licence system for instant lotteries, retail sports betting and the lotto is a proportionate restriction on the free movement of services, that the East Brabant court used evidence it was not allowed to use, and that JVH's separate attack on Lotto BV's licence came too late. A second ruling the same day kept the charity lotteries at 69 draws a year.

WiseGaming's Steven Paton: Technology, Not Geography, Decides Who Survives

Every analyst note leads with Brazil, Africa or the next US state. WiseGaming's commercial director says market access without a stack that can localise in weeks is "a money pit", that Curaçao's LOK reform is a filter he welcomes, that the agent model is converting rather than dying, and that his platform charges on net profit after bonuses, PSP and content costs rather than on GGR. He also says where the whole industry, his company included, is still behind on AI.

Police Arrest a Pixbet Partner as Operation Arena Finds a Curaçao Shell, PixStar

Diomar Tadeu Dantas de Farias was taken into preventive custody in Jacumã on Thursday morning as the second phase of the money-laundering inquiry served five more warrants against the bookmaker's leadership. The Receita Federal says offshore companies were set up to make a Brazilian-run operation look foreign; the law firm that represents Pixbet says it only ever did the lawyering.

Nevada Narrows Its Salon Guest Log to Bettors Only Over a "Loophole" Objection

The Gaming Commission added the word "wagering" twice to Regulation 5.200, so a private salon now logs only the guests who bet, not everyone who walks in. The attorney general's office said the industry found the 2025 rule "somewhat burdensome"; Commissioner George Markantonis said he does not understand compliance being called burdensome, then voted for it anyway.

Brazil's Finance Minister Says "No Decision" on Bets as Clubs Warn of Insolvency

Dario Durigan is the first minister to speak since UOL reported a decree was days away, and he cited a R$62 billion figure that confuses deposits with revenue. Flamengo, Fluminense, Vasco and Botafogo, with the Rio, São Paulo and Alagoas federations, published a note titled "The End of Brazilian Football". The industry puts its exposure at R$120 billion and its lawyers are talking about compensation.

DraftKings and FanDuel Put $7m Behind Nebraska's Ballot as Tom Osborne Says No

Two measures on the 3 November ballot would legalise online sports betting tethered to the state's racetracks at a 20% tax, with 70% of the state's take earmarked for property-tax relief that works out at between $5 and $16 a homeowner. The opposition is the most famous man in the state, a Huskers assistant coach quoting scripture, the state auditor and the treasurer. The initiative survived a signature-fraud inquiry to get there.

Underdog Sues Connecticut, Its Sixth State in Ten Days, Over a Cease-and-Desist

The 9 September order from the Department of Consumer Protection told Underdog to stop advertising and offering sports event contracts and to let residents withdraw. Underdog's answer, filed in federal court on Tuesday, is the same one it gave Ohio, Massachusetts, Wisconsin, New Mexico and Washington: the CFTC has "exclusive jurisdiction" over a designated contract market, so the state's action is "meritless".

Icahn's Directors Quit Caesars and the FTC Asks for More Before Tuesday's Vote

Jesse Lynn and Ted Papapostolou resigned "effective immediately" on 16 September and the Icahn Group waived its right to replace them, five weeks after the board declined to treat Icahn's $34 as superior to Fertitta's $31. Two days earlier the FTC asked both sides for more documents, which stops the antitrust clock until they comply. Shareholders vote on 22 September regardless.

S&P: DigiPlus Will Keep Half the Philippine Online Market; the State Is the Risk

The ratings agency expects the operator to hold 40% to 50% of legal online gaming for two years, with the second player at 15% to 20%. It also says the risk of regulatory intervention is "higher in the Philippines than other jurisdictions", cites the e-wallet delinking that cut DigiPlus revenue 23% in a quarter, and flags Senate bills that could ban the product outright. The central bank added a new one today.

Dominican Republic Passes a Gambling Law With a Ten-Year Freeze on New Venues

Sixty-two years after Law 351, the Senate has accepted the Chamber's amendments and sent a 195-article code to the president. It creates an autonomous regulator, taxes online betting at 10% a month, requires a .do domain, opens a self-exclusion register, and bans new licences for a decade in a country with more than 71,000 registered betting shops.

It runs on Legend, the media business whose $1.2bn purchase in February sank the shares. Mark Locke says most prediction-market demand "appears new".

Online betting fell 6.6%, bingo fell, 208 betting shops closed before this year's cull began. The survey says participation is flat at 49%. The day after the Lords called for an advertising ban, the regulator's own numbers explain why the product mix is the argument.

Australia's Fake-Casino Losses Tripled to A$1.6m as the Fight Moves to the Banks

"Scambling" sites take the deposit, let the balance grow, then demand a fee to release it. Scamwatch logged 806 reports last year, 45% of the losses from First Nations Australians, and the anti-scam centre says the real figure is higher because victims think they lost a bet. AUSTRAC has mapped the money: mule accounts, PayID chains, micro-laundering. From January banks are on the hook.
