Allwyn UK is the operator of The National Lottery in the United Kingdom, having taken over on 1 February 2024 as holder of the Fourth Licence, which runs for ten years. The company is part of Allwyn Group, a multinational lottery operator, and its legal entity, Allwyn Entertainment Ltd, is registered in England and Wales with its registered office in Watford. Its stated plans for the licence period centre on digital play, new games, investment in technology and data, and new terminals for retailers, with the aim of doubling returns to National Lottery funded projects. It works with a network of retailers and partners, runs a participant protection programme that includes an annual conference on responsible play, and publishes governance and social value reporting. The public spending watchdog will test whether the licence Allwyn won was designed, awarded and overseen to maximise returns to good causes, and report in spring 2027. The latest quarter's payments to good causes were 22.2% below a year earlier.
