Sweden's Administrative Court of Appeal has upheld two warnings and SEK44 million in sanction fees against bet365 for letting players choose "no limit" as their mandatory deposit limit for more than three years. The fees are lower than Spelinspektionen first set in 2023, mostly because of a ruling on how the cap is calculated, but the regulator's reading of the law has held.
The public spending watchdog will test whether the licence Allwyn won was designed, awarded and overseen to maximise returns to good causes, and report in spring 2027. The latest quarter's payments to good causes were 22.2% below a year earlier.
Rank's casinos are still growing, and their fastest-growing line is gaming machines, the product a Budget in 13 days may tax at twice the rate. Its bingo clubs stood still for the quarter, it closed three casinos, and its profit guidance now assumes the tax regime stays as it is.
The Philippine operator behind BingoPlus and ArenaPlus says it dropped out of the last rounds of New Zealand's auction for the right to apply for an online casino licence, citing "market values". It is the second overseas plan to stall in a month, after Brazil's ban.
The Stockholm-listed slots supplier says the Malta Gaming Authority has extended its licence to peer-to-peer games, the class that covers poker and betting exchanges, so it can supply prediction markets to operators. A European gambling regulator is licensing as gaming a product that Washington proposed six days ago to define as a swap.
Sportsbook supplier Altenar has asked the European Commission and the UK Competition and Markets Authority to act against Sportradar's control of official MLB, NBA, NHL and ATP data, six months after suing it in New Jersey. A complaint is not an investigation, and neither authority has said it has opened one.
Google has added Connecticut to the US states where certified prediction markets may not advertise, the fifth exclusion since it opened the category in January, and has written a pointer to its prediction market rules into the main body of its gambling policy. Each of Google's notices has taken effect the day it was posted, and none gives a reason.
Underdog's exchange and brokerage arms filed a federal suit in Nashville on Tuesday against Tennessee's attorney general and the officials of its Sports Wagering Council, four days after a letter to "Mr. Levine". It is the seventh state Underdog has taken to court, and the first suit it has filed where a binding appeals ruling already rejects the argument it relies on.
Entain's British online business grew 14% under the new 40% gaming duty, while customer-friendly football results and a Brazilian unit that shrank by more than a third before the ban held the group to 2%. Guidance survives with profit pinned to the bottom of the range, and the chief executive used the update to lobby the government before the Budget.
The league's official wagering partner has deleted AI-generated clips of Lachie Neale and Will Ashcroft after the players' union complained and Guardian Australia asked about them. From 1 January, Australian law will stop licensed bookmakers featuring athletes in wagering advertising whether the athletes consent or not.
The Dirección General de Juegos de Azar has used its first two resolutions to stop new betting shops opening and to give operators one month to own up to the ones they opened outside the rules. Declaring a shop buys no licence, and the list goes to the tax authority.
Okada Manila drew more visitors, filled more hotel rooms and earned nearly a fifth more from its mass tables in the third quarter, yet revenue was flat and adjusted EBITDA fell 13%. Most of the mass-table gain came from a higher win rate rather than more play, and the VIP business kept shrinking.
England's white-ball mentor signed as a Dafabet brand ambassador this week and has told the England and Wales Cricket Board he will not promote betting while on duty, The Guardian reports. The precedent says the deal itself is allowed; the harder questions sit with the advertising rules and with Dafabet's own cricket sponsorships.
Two weeks before the Budget, the Betting and Gaming Council has put a map and a workforce profile on the EY figures it first published in September: up to 16,000 jobs, almost 1,500 betting shops and 34 casinos. The modelling itself is still unpublished, and the official data test it only in part.
The Federal Trade Commission has begun an early-stage review of online sportsbooks such as FanDuel and DraftKings, The Washington Sun reported, citing three sources. Nothing is on the record yet: DraftKings says it has had no civil investigative demand and the agency declined to comment.
A royal decree amending Spain's anti-money laundering regulation now requires licensed online operators to check that whoever holds the payment method used to deposit and withdraw is the person who holds the gambling account. Existing players get six months to comply and, on the decree's wording, cannot withdraw winnings in the meantime.
Five years after the Dutch online market opened, the Kansspelautoriteit's chairman says fines on illegal operators are hardly ever collected and suing a platform could take five years, so regulators are drawing up with Google a list of every legal operator in the EU, and anything not on it could be kept out.
The Casino Guru Awards return on 15 October, building on a record year for nominations and more than 150,000 votes in public voting categories. New developments are also on the way, including a stronger focus on player protection and a brand-new project that goes beyond the usual category line-up.
Matchbook says it has completed the acquisition of Betdaq and is selling the deal as a deeper pool of liquidity, tied to the rise of prediction markets. Betdaq's own closure notice shows what was actually bought: the brand and the domains, with no customer accounts and no order book. The price was not disclosed.
Finland's gambling supervisor has ordered six conditional fines paid this year for illegal gambling marketing, every one of them against a person rather than a company, while threatened fines for companies run to €1.2 million. It is the board's last full year in charge, and under the new Gambling Act a prohibition issued now can disqualify a licence applicant in 2027.
PointsBet Holdings says tighter compliance cost it turnover from its highest-value Australian customers, and AFL results went against it as it chased mass-market sports bettors. The six-month loss it now expects is many times the one it reported for the nine months before, and Alberta, the growth market it is counting on, is still not live.
The Philippine regulator's chairman says its own casino chain is "bleeding like mad" and will lose at least PHP7 billion this year, and he now values the 35 casinos he wants to sell at less than half of earlier estimates. The decision to sell still rests with the President.
Two courts in Fujian have sentenced the leader of the Wei family crime group, his nephew and a third defendant to death for scam compounds and casinos run under armed protection in Myanmar's Kokang region. It is the third of Kokang's "four families" to reach a verdict in China, and the first two ended in executions within about four months.
A federal judge in Philadelphia gave the scheme's most prolific recruiter 72 months, two months above the bottom of his guideline range, and let him stay free until 1 December. The sentence sets the marker for the players and fixers still to come before the same court.
