The Office of Foreign Assets Control has designated Club La Molienda, a horse racetrack on the edge of Nuevo Laredo that Treasury says shared a betting arrangement with Casino Centenario, the casino it accused in April of serving as a drug stash house and a place where the cartel tortured its enemies. It is the second US action in six months to put a Mexican gambling venue on the sanctions list.

Wyoming's Select Committee on Gaming has voted to back a draft bill that would make running an online sweepstakes casino, or knowingly supplying one with payments, geolocation or game content, a felony. Its definition of sweepstakes currency is wider than California's, but the bill still needs a sponsor the committee may not be able to supply itself.

Ohio has led 38 other states and the District of Columbia in urging the Supreme Court to take New Jersey's case against Kalshi, joined by the tribe behind the landmark 1987 tribal gaming ruling, the National Football League and three nonprofits that want the Court to revisit Murphy. Every brief on the docket backs New Jersey; Kalshi's response is due on 9 November.

Less than three weeks after the Tunica-Biloxi Tribe went first, four more tribal nations have launched Kalshi-backed prediction apps, CNN reports, one of them in northern California, inside the circuit that has just called Kalshi's sports contracts Class III gaming on tribal land. Only two of the four have been named, and the commercial terms have not been disclosed.

A Justice Department lawyer told a federal judge on Friday that the tribe knew Interior might reverse its gaming eligibility. The tribe says it notified Interior of its launch timeline twice and was never told to stop. A $700m resort depends on how Judge McFadden reads the restored lands exception.

A confidential CNIGA request for information dated 3 June, obtained by InGame, sets out seven principles for a tribally owned online sports betting market, three market structures with a single tribal consortium on top, a 10% to 25% state share, and a "protect against iGaming" clause. Selected respondents are being met now.

New Alabama filings show the Chumba Casino owner gave the Republican governor candidate a further $100,000 on 31 August, $170,000 to a PAC funded by DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM and the Poarch Band, and $10,000 to $20,000 apiece to six state senators, 36 contributions in five months in a state with no lottery and no regulated online gambling.

Eilers & Krejcik's first combined forecast credits sportsbooks with $31.7 billion and the exchanges with an $8.4 billion "handle analog", a translation of exchange volume into sportsbook terms that it has not published. The AGA sees sportsbooks flat at $29.5 billion; Week 1 data suggests the exchange share may be larger.

Two days after the Ninth Circuit told two California tribes that Kalshi's sports contracts are Class III gaming on their land, the Tunica-Biloxi Tribe formed SaltTrade Derivatives to route trades through Kalshi's exchange. The tribal gaming lobby called it "profoundly disappointing"; Kalshi's chief executive called on other tribes to follow.

Derek Stevens' downtown resort becomes the Athletics' official resort and Circa Sports their official sportsbook in a multi-year deal announced on Thursday, 19 months before the ballpark opens. The 22-seat Circa Dugout Box sits beside the home dugout and, Stevens says, "it's going to be very important to know a Circa casino host" to get in.

Two measures on the 3 November ballot would legalise online sports betting tethered to the state's racetracks at a 20% tax, with 70% of the state's take earmarked for property-tax relief that works out at between $5 and $16 a homeowner. The opposition is the most famous man in the state, a Huskers assistant coach quoting scripture, the state auditor and the treasurer. The initiative survived a signature-fraud inquiry to get there.

A second unanimous panel in three weeks has ruled against the exchange, this time for two California tribes under the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act. The court held that IGRA and the Commodity Exchange Act "simply address two different questions", and sent the case back for an injunction. Lawyers on the tribal side are already talking about geofencing reservations.

Nevada's win against sports event contracts is stayed while the full court decides whether to rehear it, so Arizona, Montana and California cannot enforce, Nevada and Washington do so through state courts, and the Supreme Court's conference is on 28 September.
