Kangwon Land is the South Korean company behind High1 Resort in Jeongseon county, Gangwon province, where it runs the High1 Grand Hotel in Sabuk and the High1 Palace Hotel in Gohan. Its English site describes the resort's casino as the only casino in Korea open to Korean nationals and foreigners alike. Alongside the casino, the company's business areas cover hotels and condominiums, the High1 Water World park, a ski resort, the High1 golf course and the High1 sports teams. It publishes stock price, dividend, financial and disclosure information for investors, sets out its board, audit committee and ESG committee, and operates public information disclosure and whistleblowing channels, including a line for reporting illegal casinos. The company also runs problem gambling work, including a joint academic seminar on gambling problems in 2026.

Grand Korea Leisure's president put a number on the Osaka threat at the National Assembly this week, then corrected it: about a quarter of its Japanese revenue, or 5% to 10% of the total. An industry study presented the same day put the hit to Korea's foreigner-only casinos far higher.
Kangwon Land has no limit on how often a casino member's points card can be replaced, and says it cannot check replacement records against its misuse records, according to data released by a lawmaker during the National Assembly's audit season. The worry is "comp-kkang", the resale of casino points for cash that goes back into gambling.
