Betting and Gaming Council

Betting and Gaming Council

The Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) is the standards body and trade association for Britain's regulated betting and gaming industry, formed in 2019 from the merger of the Association of British Bookmakers and the Remote Gambling Association, representing betting shops, online operators, casinos and bingo clubs. It negotiates with government and the Gambling Commission on regulation, ran the industry's voluntary safer-gambling commitments including the whistle-to-whistle advertising ban, and publishes economic and employment data for the sector.

Flutter Entertainment will cancel its London listing on 3 August 2026 and trade only on the NYSE, formalising a pivot to a US business that now supplies 41% of group revenue. The exit lands amid a brutal UK tax squeeze, but Flutter's own filings suggest growth and investors, not duty rises, are what pulled it west.
