Michigan Gaming Control Board

The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) regulates Detroit's commercial casinos, tribal gaming compacts, online casino and sports betting launched in January 2021, and fantasy contests, licensing operators and suppliers, certifying platforms and games, and publishing monthly revenue reports. It has been among the more active state regulators in enforcement against unlicensed offshore operators, sweepstakes casinos and prediction markets, issuing cease-and-desist orders and pursuing payment intermediaries.

An Ingham County judge has granted a 14-day temporary restraining order barring prediction-market operator Kalshi from offering sports event contracts to anyone in Michigan, with noncompliance carrying a penalty of $120,000 per day.
