bet365 is a British online gambling operator founded in 2000 by Denise Coates and headquartered in Stoke-on-Trent. It remains privately held by the Coates family: Denise Coates is joint chief executive and majority shareholder with a stake of around 58%, her brother John Coates holds roughly 25% and is joint chief executive, and their father Peter Coates is chairman. It is one of the largest online gambling companies in the world, employing more than 10,000 people, with a product range covering sports betting, online casino, poker and bingo. It is licensed by the Gambling Commission in Great Britain and holds licences across a long list of regulated markets, and in 2026 it secured a French online sports betting licence from the ANJ, adding one of the last major European markets it had not entered.
