Loterj is the state lottery of Rio de Janeiro, which in 2023 began licensing online sports betting operators under state authority ahead of Brazil's federal regime and sought to permit its licensees to accept bets nationwide, a claim rejected by the Supreme Federal Court in 2025, which confined state lottery authorisations to bets placed within the state. It continues to run state lottery products and to license betting operators for Rio de Janeiro residents alongside the federal system.
