Autorité Nationale des Jeux

Autorité Nationale des Jeux

The Autorité Nationale des Jeux (ANJ) is France's gambling regulator, created in 2020 to succeed ARJEL with expanded powers, supervising licensed online sports betting, horse racing betting and poker operators, the state lottery and racing monopolies, and land-based casinos in cooperation with the interior ministry. It approves operators' annual promotional strategies and action plans on excessive gambling, restricts advertising volume and content, orders the blocking of unlicensed sites, and publishes market data and guidance.

France's Gambling Regulator Examines Robinhood's Sponsorship of OGC Nice

The ANJ is looking at the front-of-shirt deal between the Ligue 1 club and a company that now runs its own event-contracts exchange, according to L'Equipe, the French sports daily. France blocked Polymarket in July, and the question this raises is whether a prediction-market operator can be a football sponsor in a country where it cannot take a bet.
