India does not permit online sports betting or casino nationally, and fantasy sports has been the legal route to a wagering-adjacent product, defended on the basis that it is a game of skill rather than chance. That fee is the single most consequential feature of the Brazilian framework: at 30 million reais per licence covering up to three brands, it was set high enough to clear out the long tail of grey-market operators that had run on Curaçao permissions, and the licensed field settled at a fraction of the number that had been trading.
